Today JAYE Malta Start Ups had the unique opportunity to have breakfast with Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex at the Residence of the British High Commissioner.
As part of Her Royal Highness’ visit to Malta marking International Women’s Day, The Countess spent time with the ‘NextGen’ of entrepreneurs discussing their ideas for the future and sharing invaluable insight into solving some of today’s most pressing issues. During the breakfast teams pitched their business idea while providing an opportunity for each to validate their rationale for the selection of business model.
Her Royal Highness exchanged a number of ideas with the JAYE Malta Start Ups and engaged in discussions on ways to improve the viability of the idea presented, while ensuring the core values of the start up are always maintained.
Seven projects were presented covering a wide spectrum of industries and applications, including virtual reality, time management, pet care, mental health, the environment, food allergies and gift purchasing.
For Qi Zhou, representing her Start Up RA, the experience was defining; “it is one of the best breakfasts in my life! The Countess is such a kind, wise and beautiful person; she encouraged and inspired me. I will never forget the words she said to me. I am very grateful that JAYE Malta gave me the chance to meet her.”
JAYE Malta Board member, Jean Paul Attard, resonated the feeling by stating “this was a massive experience for the teams to present their ideas, and it was an opportunity they grasped with both hands”.
“I thank Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex and The British High Commissioner for this inspiring opportunity. The support of NextGen Ambassadors and role models such as Her Royal Highness are crucial for young entrepreneurs as it helps build confidence and belief in themselves, their ideas and their dreams. On behalf of JAYE Malta I thank Her Royal Highness for her insights, The British High Commissioner and his wife for hosting us, and 100 Women in Finance for having facilitated this breakfast opportunity” concluded JAYE Malta CEO, Julian Azzopardi.
