“I believe that young people can only benefit from taking part in JAYE. In my opinion, it is the whole experience of overcoming problems, handling interpersonal relationships, product development and seeking maximisation of the company potential which far outweighs the ultimate goal of winning prizes. However, I have been fortunate to experience teams who have won prizes and their elation cannot be described in words.
I may be wrong, but I always start by stressing that winning prizes is not as important as the fact that participants have listened to advice and then made THEIR choices on how to handle business issues, as they will no doubt arise in the period. There are no losers in the Company Programme scheme, just Achievers. I have acted as a volunteer for many years and am still in contact with many JAYE graduates. It is heartening to see their careers develop in diverse ways and I am always pleased to think that the Company Programme will have played a part in their development.”
